    Don´t Buy It For Them!
One of the most difficult compliance issues faced by packaged liquor retailers today is the secondary service and sale of alcohol to minors.

That is, adults purchasing alcohol for their children or anyone else who is under the age of 18 years. 76% of alcohol supplied to underage drinkers is through a parent or acquaintance. It is a constant battle for retailers to address this issue with their customers without putting themselves at risk of abuse. The Australian Liquor Stores Association has developed a "Don´t Buy It For Them" campaign to assist retailers to communicate to their customers, that it is an offence to purchase and supply alcohol for any persons under the age of 18 years. If caught, fines are heavy for retailers and customers alike.

LRA has sent all members in ACT, NSW and Victoria an A4 poster to put up above the cash register. It is vital retailers point to this sign when addressing this issue with customers. If further signage is required please call us at LRA.

    Have your say!
Its Time for you to help Government Officials Understand Your Business -
The LRA committee would like to strongly encourage all Packaged Liquor Retailers to immediately write or call their local councillors, state and federal Members of Parliament, inviting them to visit your store and to meet with you to discuss your business, your role in the community and the impact of the unfair packaged liquor license fee structure. It is our role, as an industry sector, to help those in government understand the day-to-day challenges independent packaged liquor retailers face in their businesses.
Linked are some facts for you to digest that we have raised with Minister Robinson.
