  • What does Master Grocers Australia do?

    MGA is a provider of legislative and retail support services which have been developed to safeguard our members' business interests.

    Our primary role is to partner members by providing a range of industry-specific support services which include:

    • Industrial Relations and Employment Law Management
    • Occupational Health & Safety Advice and Consultancy

    Telephone Support

    Advice and service in all aspects of Industrial Relations, Employment Law, HR, OH&S, training and also Awards and Agreement interpretation.

    Employment Law Disputes

    Representation in:

    • Industrial Relations tribunals and, if necessary, the Federal Court for unfair dismissal and unlawful termination applications
    • Anti-discrimination tribunals such as the Equal Opportunity Commission for discrmination complaints
    • Magistrate's Court for OH&S action taken by WorkSafe/WorkCover

    Workplace Agreement Service

    Customised industry-specific workplace agreements.

    Proactive Measures

    Employer and employee mediation, IR and OH&S seminars and OH&S store audits.

    Legislative and Operational Staff Training

    MGA provide training in areas such as Trade Practices Act, OH&S, Food Safety for Food Handlers and Supervisors, Tobacco and Liquor.

    Develop Effective Partnerships with Industry Stakeholders

    Industry Representation - Federal and State Government committees and boards, Tertiary Education, Grocery, Liquor and Services Suppliers, Grocery and Liquor Wholesalers and Retailer Brands.

    MGA are members of the Boards of the National Assocation of Retail Grocers Australia (NARGA) and the Australian Liquor Store Association (ALSA).
