COVID Marshal Training
Victoria
COVID Marshals must complete basic infection control awareness training in Victoria.
The courses are available for employers and employees in businesses where COVID-safe practices are vital, including;
- retail trade
- accommodation and food
- transport incl. postal and warehousing
- construction
- manufacturing
- health care and social assistance.
MGA TMA does not currently offer this course. However please use this link to see current approved providers.

Australian Retail Association offers
HLTINFCOV001 – Comply with Infection Prevention and Control Policies and Procedures
- Upon completion of the theory based learning and practical demonstration, learner will receive a Statement of Attainment in HLTINFCOV001 as part of the HLTSS00065 (Infection Control Skill Set – Retail)
South Australia
COVID Marshals are assigned to apply COVID Directions and restrictions in identified businesses and operations. The training is provided by the South Australian Government.
Activities that require a COVID Marshal:
- The onsite purchase and consumption of food or beverages (indoors or outdoors)
- Religious or faith-based ceremonies (other than wedding ceremonies or funeral services)
- Supermarkets and hardware stores
- Gatherings of more than 50 people at residential premises
- Distribution centres (including associated transport operations)
- Gymnasiums and fitness centres
- Swimming pools used by the public
- Sporting clubs
- Any activity where a COVID Management Plan is required
- Public assemblies
- Any operation which may be defined by the state coordinator.

Northern Territory
Chief Health Officer Directions came into effect on 30 November 2020 requiring businesses and organisations to comply with, and review their COVID-19 Safety Plan every six months, appoint a COVID Safety Supervisor to implement their plan and collect customer contact details via the Territory check-in app.

ACT
ACT businesses should consider how they will keep their workers, themselves, and others safe while trading.
Several business categories are required to develop and follow a COVID Safety Plan.
Business should also consider additional measures such as infection control training, which can show them how to implement infection control policies and procedures.
