2020 Annual WAGE REVIEW DECISION
19 June 2020
Annual Wage Review Decision 2020 announced today by the Fair Work Commission
The Fair Work Commission has today announced the decision by the Annual Wage Review Panel in respect of the minimum award rates increases for the coming year 2020-2021.
1.75% wage increase staggered across 3 groups.
Members are aware that MGA/TMA argued very strongly that any wage increase to the modern awards would have a devastating effect on the survival of small businesses and family enterprises. A combination of past annual wage increases, the impact of severe bushfires together with the effects of the most devastating worldwide pandemic made it essential for the Fair Work Commission to consider restraint, when considering a wage increase in the coming year.
The MGA Board welcomes the cautious approach taken by the Commission in handing down a measured decision, that will hopefully assist our members to survive in an economy that is facing great challenges in the months ahead.
The Commission has awarded an increase of 1.75% to all modern awards which will be formed into three Groups. MGA/TMA members will be affected in;

- Group 1 - Effective 01 July 2020 No members affected
- Group 2 -Effective 01 November 2020 which will include Timber Industry Award; Road Transport Award; Meat Award and Miscellaneous Award, and

Although MGA/TMA argued for a zero- percentage increase we are pleased with the outcome as it will mean cost savings for our members over the next few months before there is any increase to wages.
