Safety Management System
To assist members, MGA TMA has created a series of FREE Workplace Health and Safety instructions and modules for use in improving and developing your management of safety. This system is designed to allow you to tackle specific safety hazard areas based on the risk priority you assign to them.
Modules available
Module 1 | Risk Assessment
This module will provide the tools required to complete a risk assessment in the workplace. Risk assessment is the overall process of hazard identification, risk analysis and risk evaluation.
Module 2 | Traffic Management
Traffic management is one of the highest risks in your business with serious consequences if an incident occurs. The risk increases substantially if the public have direct access to areas with mobile vehicle equipment.
Module 3 | Induction Training and Competency
This module provides information to perform an induction of a new employee to ensure all workers and contractors have the skills and competencies to work in a manner that is safe and without risks to health.
Module 4 | Wood Dust
This module provides advice on minimising the risk to health from exposure to wood dust when handling and working with natural and manufactured wood.
Module 5 | Electrical Safety
This module provides guidance on the management strategies and mechanisms organization can implement to eliminate or reduce and control risks arising from electricity.
Module 6 | Emergency Management
This module assists in developing a well thought out emergency management plan that can have a significant impact on how efficiently and quickly you can guide everyone to safety. The plan will be most effective if everyone is aware of their roles and responsibilities in responding to an emergency.
Module 7 | Return to Work
The purpose of module is to help those involved in developing return to work plans and injury management plans understand how these plans differ and how best to apply them.
Module 8 | Health Monitoring
Health monitoring module is used to detect changes in a worker’s health because of exposure to certain substances, noise or other dangers and how to reduce or eliminate any risks.
Module 9 | Plant Machinery and Equipment
This module will assist in identifying, assessing, eliminating and controlling risks when working with or near powered mobile plant, machinery and equipment.
Module 10 | Housekeeping and Workplace Inspection
Effective housekeeping can help control or eliminate workplace hazards. ... It includes keeping work areas neat and orderly, maintaining halls and floors free of slip and trip hazards, and removing of waste materials and other hazards from work areas.
Module 11 | Incident Reporting and Investigation
It is important to develop a strong culture of incident reporting, no matter how minor, as all reported incidents should be used as valuable lessons in how to prevent a recurrence. This module will assist in a better understanding of what is required to do if an incident occurs.
Module 12 | Contractor Management
All contractors must be fully inducted before commencing any work on your site or premises. You have a duty of care to ensure all persons work safely and do not endanger themselves or others. This module will assist in what is required to complete when inducting first time and regular contractors.
Module 13 | Hazardous and Dangerous Substances
A person conducting a business or undertaking (PCBU) has the primary duty to ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, that the health and safety of workers and other persons are not put at risk from work carried out as part of the conduct of the business or undertaking. This includes ensuring the safe use, handling and storage of substances.
Module 14 | Manual Handling
Manual handling is any activity that requires the use of force exerted by a person to lift, push, pull, carry or otherwise move, hold or restrain any person, animal or thing. You must identify hazardous manual handling tasks wherever they occur and include changes in the workplace such as when new equipment is introduced, or injuries happen.
