Fair Work Commission announces 2018 national wage increase
The Fair Work Commission has today announced wage increases that will affect the General Retail Industry Award (GRA) and other modern awards.
As from the first full pay period after 1 July 2018 wages under the GRA will increase by 3.5%.
The new rate for a retail employee level one under the GRA will be $20.79 per hour (to be confirmed).
MGA will prepare new wages tables for members. Please note that the wage tables will not be available until the Fair Work Ombudsman determines how the increase will affect the various classifications.
Wage tables showing the increase will be available to members as soon as they are finalised.
Members who operate their businesses under an agreement must ensure that they pay the minimum hourly rate under the award and will also need to check each agreement classification against the minimum award rates classifications in the GRA, when the wage tables are released.
