MGA Independent Retailers delivers Responsible Service of Alcohol training sessions on behalf of the Victorian Commission for Gambling and Liquor Regulation (VCGLR).
VCGLR has announced it is no longer appropriate for RSA VIC courses to be delivered in any format other than classroom based.
The Code of Conduct Packaged Liquor Licenses (section 7) requires the following:
- All staff employed to serve alcohol must undertake this course within one month of their commencement of employment at a licensed premises
- From 1 January 2011, an applicant for a general, on-premises, packaged liquor and late night license must complete an approved RSA course prior to the license being granted
Training is delivered by Master Grocers Australia - RTO Code: 21148 – This is not an accredited training course.
Who should do RSA training?
It is mandatory for all staff who are involved in selling, offering or serving alcohol in Victoria to have a current VCGLR approved RSA certificate.

Please note: A basic understanding of written and spoken English is required to undertake this course.

Duration
The RSA program is a 4 hour workshop set up by the Department of Justice, State Government of Victoria and run by Master Grocers accredited RSA trainers.
Written assessment is completed during classroom activities. If you believe you may have difficulties completing the written assessment please contact MGA Industry Training prior to attending the course.

Outcomes
On successful completion of all course requirements participants will receive:
- An approved Victorian RSA certificate (valid for 3 years) after which you are able to complete an online refresher course.
